Subscription Boxes

I’m checking out subscription boxes.  I’ve signed up for FabFitFun and StitchFix.  Any recommendations for other subscription boxes?  Let me know if you’ve tried one and liked it.  I was working as a nurse until a few months ago and my closet was half filled with scrubs.   Now that I no longer wear scrubs, my wardrobe needs some attention.  Not to mention, I still have clothes that I had 15 years ago.   I’ve done a huge closet purge.  I can’t help myself.  I still kept a few things that are over a decade old.  You never know when you might need that sheer cheetah print blouse!

We nurses often work three 12-hour shifts, especially in the hospital.  Some work 9-5 Monday thru Friday.  Nurses wait on people, hand and foot, all day long.  We do things to people, you would never imagine.  It’s constant serving people.  Not to mention, the stress of preventing people from dying or even reversing it when people are actively trying to follow that darn light.

When I got home from work, I didn’t want to do anything.  I didn’t even want to talk to my family.  I wanted to zone out and be quiet.  After 3 -12 hour shifts in a row, you are a zombie the next day and don’t want any stimulation!  You wouldn’t believe the weird family dynamics you have to deal with as a nurse.  You are a teacher, a counselor, a security guard, a diplomat, a housekeeper,  a mental health professional,  a biohazard specialist, etc etc. (many similarities to a mother)  It’s exhausting.  It’s also amazing, and I don’t regret a minute of it.  ( Maybe the day I was spat on my face I could forget! Getting that loogie dangling from my bangs and smeared across my cheek was gross.)  (Is that a TMI for my blog?)  My closet was the least important aspect of my life.  So, now that I have tons of time on my hands, I’m paying some attention to myself.

I signed up for FabFitFun because it often has something from Tarte Cosmetics in it.  It’s worth the price for the Tarte items alone!    Actually, Tarte is having a great Memorial Day Sale at their website.   I’ve discovered from Rodan and Fields (which is amazing skin care!) that I’m allergic to gluten.  They have certain products that would literally paint my face red when I applied the product.  After some research, I discovered the products that were turning my face red had gluten in it.  Tarte cosmetics are gluten free so I’m going to dive in and try the Tarte skin care regimen.  I’ve got a skin care travel pack in the mail.

If you want to try FabFitFun use this link: FabFitFun Discount to get $10 off your first box.  I will get $15 off my next box if you order.  You can get the same discount too if you refer a friend.

Let me know if you have a subscription to a box club that you like.   My dad even has a box subscription membership!  He gets a box of fishing stuff once a month.  It could be my son, John, that has that subscription, maybe both of them do!  I’ve had a YarnBox subscription myself.  It’s wonderful getting a surprise in the mail every so often.  Especially YARN!

Jourdyn, playing dress up.

It’s Memorial Day and I’m hanging out with Jourdyn.  I’ve been working on a perpetual yarn purge and will work on it again today.  I’m going to have a yarn give-a-way soon! Yep!  A free to you yarn give-a-way.  I’ll tell you all about it in my next post!

Happy Knitting
