Lauren and I finished our The Weekender top by Andrea Mowry. I used our color-way Rocky Mountains and Lauren used Paris.
Lauren may actually kill me for posting these pictures, some are not flattering. I like them because they show the fun love Lauren and I have for each other.
I needed a haircut. My bangs were in my face and frustrating. I tend to be that person that cuts my own hair and horribly messes it up. I was proud of myself for superman like strength in restraining myself from taking the scissors to my bangs the day before a trunk show! Now that the trunk show is over, I’ve cut my bangs and should have done it then!
I don’t remember what we were talking about here, but the look on our faces is funny. I want to say Lauren smelled something bad and was asking me if I “did it.”.
Apparently, it was really funny!
Lauren and I have such fun the in dye studio. I feel so blessed.
The Weekender is a great easy knit. My size actually fits Lauren better and Lauren’s size fits me better. We tried to trade sweaters, but we each loved our own version and yarn choices better so we stuck with our own projects.
Lauren recently made “Angel Fire” and I can’t wait to see this knit up!
I’m off to dye up some yarn to fulfill some orders. Have a great day and Happy Holidays!
Happy Fall y’all! I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather! It’s knitting time! The kids go back to school, the cold weather is right around the corner and it’s my favorite time of year!
I have a friend named Kara and she is the crochet teacher at our local yarn store. She is opening an online shop to sell her crochet projects. Here are her kiddos modeling her super cute hats. Sage made a darling present for my dog Brodie.
Isn’t that cute?! Brodie is so handsome! She made him a dog collar charm.
This is Lauren. She is a fan of A Chick That Knitz yarn. She made this lovely shawl with our color-way “Golden Rosebud”. She tells me that she wears this in the office and her coworkers all want one too. I LOVE that this is crochet.
This is April Garwood of Banana Moon Studio. She is a local designer and loves ACTK yarn. Check out her website for some cute gifts for friends and family. This is ACTK color-way “Daydream”.
To celebrate Fall and apple season, here is a yummy apple salad recipe that everyone loves! Enjoy!
Happy Fall and Happy Knitting
Can you believe this gorgeous shawl! Sharon from KansasKlicker knit this stunning shawl. It is the Malibu Shawl by Jodie Brown. Check out her Etsy Shop for a selection of hand knit shawls and accessories. She has some beautiful pieces!
To celebrate this beauty, we are doing a Give-A-Way of the three skeins of Dk weight yarn needed to make this gorgeous piece. You enter on Instagram. Find me “A Chick That Knitz” and Follow me and tag a few of your fiber friends. That’s it. That enters you into the drawing. The drawing ends on Sunday at noon on 9/29/19. The winner will be announced on Instagram.
We’re also having a sale this week. 20% off Check it out. A Chick That Knitz
Here’s the newest YouTube video. I’m chit chatting and showing off some new yarn colors. Luke has a surprise visit at the end.
Happy Knitting Friends,
Hello. I just had to show off my new favorite hand dyed yarn! It’s called “Boho Beauty“. It is shown here in MCN Fingering weight yarn. It’s also readily available in Bulky!
Come check out the A Chick That Knitz Etsy shop. We are having a 20% off sale this week.
How are y’all doing? I can feel Fall in the air! It’s still 90 degree weather here, but the days are shorter. There is a crispness in the air in the morning that is reminiscent of Fall. I LOVE Fall!
Lauren and Luke came over yesterday and we played in a basket of Hexipuffs.
We had so much fun! These hexipuffs are for The Beekeeper’s Quilt by Tiny Owl Knits.
You need over 300+ hexipuffs to make the quilt! I made these years ago and never assembled them. Now that I dye my own yarn, I want a new one with my own yarn colors in it.
Enjoy your day today! Don’t forget to check out the sale online. It goes thru the weekend. Etsy Shop – A Chick That Knitz
Happy Knitting Friends,
This morning, I’ve been busy working on a photo shoot for my yarns. I did really good until this happened.
Max is a big grown up cat now. This June he will be two. He still likes to come up and give me a cuddle every once in a while. He has that aloof personality of cats, and you should feel grateful that he evens pays any attention to you. He saw me working with my yarns and had to come up and pose. He knows his role well.
My daughter, Lindy, moved back home to finish nursing school and brought her cat, Milo, with her. Now, there are two nosey felines hanging around.
The yarn has it’s own room in my house where the kitties do not hang out. They typically camp out in Lindy’s room now. If she is not running her pants off working or going to classes, she is laying in bed trying to catch up on sleep. That’s where these two like to be, in bed with her.
I had to take a break from the photo shoot to play with the kitties. I am their door keeper after all. I open the door to let them out, and I open the door to let them in. (About 10 times per day).
I did get some work done today!
Lauren has been creating too! She made this beautiful coral and teal color-way listed below. I don’t have a name for it yet, but it reminds me of a Koi Pond. She has a beautiful tonal teal/turquoise color that goes with it, but I cannot get it pictured right. It’s coming out as blue and it isn’t blue at all. That’s when the kitties interrupted me for a break.
I better get back to work. Kitties have moved on. Milo catches the lizards around here, a few little snakes too. I bet they are working keeping the perimeter safe. I’m off to list some more yarn on the Etsy site. Etsy – A Chick That Knitz
Have a great day friends!
I’ve finally finished an official “Fade” type pattern! Yay me! I’ve made a fade type shawl with my previous shawl “Dotted Rays” by Stephen West. I was creative and made the Fade on my own. This is “Free Your Fade” by Andrea Mowry. It’s an easy knit. Guess what? I made it with my own hand dyed yarn! Yay me again!
This takes 3 skeins of yarn in different color combinations. I made this in my Fingering Singles yarn in Pink, Circus, and Lake House. I’m going to make a moody, dark one next.
I’m working every day on my new hand dyed yarn business. Currently, I’m stocking my “store” on Etsy. You are sure to find me under “A chick that knitz.” I’ve got 27 different color ways listed. I have about 50 total to load. Once I have all my colors listed, I’m going to have a grand opening sale and everything will be 30% off for the opening. So go look around if you would like, but remember to wait for the official opening for 30% off everything! I love a good sale! (It’s taken me a week to photograph and load 27 colors, it may take another week to load the rest).
I will also have my own “shop” on the web. I will get that up and running once I’ve loaded up Etsy. Since I’m brand spanking new with my yarn business, I figured that would help introduce my yarn to people.
It Spring Y’all! Yay! My nose sure knows! I’m allergic to cedar and every other kind of tree known to mankind. I’m basically allergic to March. I don’t know how they work, but I have a Himalayan Salt Lamp near my bed and it helps with my allergies. It doesn’t cure them, but it helps. I notice a difference when I don’t have it on anyway.
Max enjoying the long grass before Len gets the mower out for the first time this season.
I’m in-between projects right now. My fingers are itching to work on something! I’m looking for a particular project. When I officially open my store and have the grand opening, I’m going to do a “KAL. Knit-a-Long” and I’m looking for that project. I want to showcase my yarns and showcase a Fade type pattern.
